Turkey Time Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

It’s turkey time! My favorite day of the year is Thanksgiving. I love the food, the holiday spirit, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the football, making calls to friends, and all the anticipation of the holidays to come. Central to our celebration is a good meal, served with gratitude for all we have. Setting a beautiful festive table is part of the fun. This year, my Turkey Time Tablescape has 24 turkeys!

During my annual October event, Autumn Jubilee, we made some fun placemats using a fabric that featured large turkeys. See that post on Turkey Talk Placemats ...

More Fishies ~ Just Two Charm Pack Quilts Blog Hop from Liz Makes Crafts

I've been a lot less active in the quilting community over the last few years, choosing to let quilting become just a hobby for myself, and instead focusing most of my attention and efforts on other endeavors. However, when Cheryl Brickey asked me to participate in a blog hop to promote her latest book, Just Two Charm Pack Quilts, I was excited to do it.

I've made a lot of Cheryl's patterns over the years so I knew it was going to be a good time. Her patterns are always clear, well-written, and the end results are ...

Just 2 Charm Pack Quilts Blog Hop: String lights from Life In Pieces

If you've followed, or even just checked in occasionally with my blog over the years, there is a good chance you've seen one of Cheryl Brickey's (Meadow Mist Designs) mystery quilt along projects in progress. It's one of the projects I look forward to each year.  So when Cheryl asked if anyone was willing to make a quilt from her new book Just 2 Charm Pack Quilts, I really wanted to participate.

The first decision was choosing which quilt to make.  There are some really fun quilts in this book.  I'm not the quickest at ...

Welcome Summer Tablescapes from From My Carolina Home

June temperatures have been warm but not hot, and a perfect time to enjoy a meal on the veranda. When Rita at Panoply asked me to be a part of her Summer Tablescapes blog hop, I thought it was a good time to pull out a few things I still have and put together a table for six outside. So come along, as I set a table for a Summer Garden Party.

My color scheme is based on the pattern in the salad plates, light pink with spring green and yellow.

Spring green chargers are set on white nylon placemats ...

Weekly update: Hands2Help blog hop and a giveaway (and the purple triangle finale) from With Strings Attached

I'm delighted to be among the bloggers participating in the Hands2Help blog hop !

Avid, committed quiltmakers bestow quilts on their immediate and extended families. They happily make quilts for baby and wedding gifts, graduations and retirements and anniversaries.  They have wall hangings and placemats for every season. They may even sell a few pieces. But the inspiration keeps coming -- online, in print, at shops and shows, from fellow quilters.  What does a quiltmaker do?  Make quilts for strangers, of course.

I've been donating quilts since early in my quilting career.  I just went back in the photo album ...

Boundless: Dust Off a Quilt Book from High Road Quilter

Welcome to Dust Off A Quilt Book blog hop. For this blog hop, I dusted off a book I kept renewing at the library. It is called Use Scraps, Sew Blocks, Make 100 Quilts by Stuart Hillard.

The library wanted it back, and I wasn't done with it, so I tried to buy a used copy, and they were out of stock so I tried and succeeded in buying yet another used copy. It's from a different library. Normally, I don't work that hard to buy something.

What do I like about this book? Well, there are ...

Puff Quilt - Trevor from Sew Preeti Quilts

Welcome to the first Island Batik challenge and blog hop of the year 2023.

The first challenge of the year is to make a cozy, squishy Puff (Bubble) quilt using the fabric from your assigned Fall’22 collection 0.5 yard bundle!!

I received Exuberance collection. This is an original collection by Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Designs.

Like most of the ambassadors, I had the same question - what is a puff quilt and how do I make it? I watched about half a dozen videos on the YouTube and made a list.

A list of all the things I ...

December Challenge and Blog Hop from Sew Preeti Quilts

I firmly believe that anyone who has a voice can sing. Whether their singing is pleasant to hear or not is another story altogether.  Similarly, I can make a quilt with any group of colors. Will that grouping be aesthetically appealing? That depends on the design.

December Challenge!

Four times a year when the challenge is combined with a blog hop, we the Island Batik ambassadors are required to use one of the new fabric collections, assigned to us. Further we are directed to use as many fabrics (from the collection) as possible.

I was assigned the Chickadee Fabric Collection ...

Vintage Christmas Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

Christmas is a wonderful time to set a pretty table, celebrating the season all month long. For several years, I have been slowly adding to this collection of Christmas stoneware. It is a Certified International set designed by Susan Winget (just love her stuff!) called Vintage Christmas. I do not remember where the plates came from, maybe ebay, and maybe a thrift store, but I’ve had them since sometime in 2015. I usually put great finds like that on my blog, but I cannot find any reference to buying the plates. No matter, but in 2018 I found a ...

Assumindo compromissos e toalha bordada from Artes de Paula Louceiro

Então resolvi participar do desafio (Blog Hop) proposto pela Carla do blog Creatin in the sticks

O desafio consiste em fazer um projeto usando tons de azuis (Shades of Blue) e postar no dia designado pela Carla. Na semana de 23 a 26 de janeiro, as blogueiras que foram ...

Gremlins, Goblins, and Ghouls Oh My! Blog Hop from Quilted Delights

Welcome to day two of Ghoulish Halloween inspiration.
I love Halloween, mostly the cutesy fun part.
Nothing too gore-ish or gruesome for me.  And I can't do scary movies!
Mr. Boodegy is my limit. lol

But I do love treats and cute ways to pass them along.

This year I made some festive triangle pouches for some special little Gremlins and Goblins.

I used up some of my fun Halloween Prints for these.

These are super quick to sew up, and hold lots of sweet goodies.

There are many different tutorials on the web on how to make these ...

Welcome to day four of the Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt.
The challenge for this hop was to use our favorite sewing tool to create a project and tell why we love it. I went big for my project so it isn't quite finished yet, but it's close enough to give you an idea of why I love the tool below!

Right now my favorite sewing tool is the Blade Saver Thread Cutter by Purple Hobbies.

I am a chain piecer and assembly line sewer.  I cut everything at once ...
